On your birth bed you were bundled.

in your deep dark mother’s womb, awaiting the dreaded date.

Oh so young, nine months after the bells rung.

The world unknown, you would be so alone.

When the time came, you were given a name.

Your beloved birth became my burdened Achilles’ heel.

Are you ready for you miracle?

Are you ready for your blessings?

With happiness for you, sorrow came for me.

Like a pillow, you comforted me the most.

When you left, I cried myself to sleep.

Your body laid outspread, like a pillow on my bed.

Filled with love, ready to cast away like a firefly.

Filled with hope, for the years that should have been.

Filled with misery, as this was no victory.

Just as you were our seed, your mother started to bleed.

Are you ready for you miracle?

Are you ready for your blessings?

You and your mother gone, reality started to dawn.

Life became a strain with pain, and no gain.

They said it was benign, but you we never fine.

We were not supposed to leave, now all I can do is grieve.

Like a knife, you left a mark on my soul.

I will never be alright.

Are you ready for you miracle?

Are you ready for your blessings?

Karthik Pandian is an aspiring musician with a knack for biology and a love for politics.  He can often be seen playing endless rhythms on a drum pad or even on his desk. However, he also tries to learn more and more about the human body, a interest which is only paralleled by his love for politics.  Recently, Karthik went to the LA Women’s March, not to march in protest, but to interview protesters for the political organization PragerU.
