To the Ones Who Raised Me
You put your dreams aside
so I could share a life with you.
You’re always there
to help me out with anything I do.
You’re the ones I always count on
when I’m worried, scared, or lost.
I know the things you do for me
don’t come without a cost.
No more privacy or peace for you
the day I came your way,
quiet days and restful nights -
you gave that all away.
I hope that I was worth it,
all the chaos and the stress,
and the fact that no matter how much
you clean, our house remains a mess.
I hope you know what I would do for you,
and that I’m thankful every day,
but most of all I hope you know
I love you more than words can say.

I wrote this poem for my parents because they have taught me so much and I would be nothing without them.
