I mosey down the hallway

sensing movement of another family member.

Clamoring of cameras and breaking news

make entering the kitchen chaotic.

Sizzling breakfast floods the room with

comfort and satisfaction.

Holographic crystals highlight the room

boldy with their reflection.

Family trinkets line up perfectly

along the ledge under the casement.

Sitting patiently in the “bosses chair”

at the edge of the table,

I giggle as grandma hands me a glass

of fresh orange juice.

She hands me a plate smiling,

“Here you go Darling.”

Clearing my plate, I thank her generously
