Safe Place
Your smell, I can’t describe it but it’ll will always calm me.
You’re always warm, like being wrapped in a blanket that just came out of the dryer.
Your lips, they taste like my mint chocolate chapstick in the cool mornings of winter and warm evenings of summer.
You have freckles here, dimples there, and birthmarks here and there. I know them so well I can trace them in the dark.
The sound of your hushed voice whispering, “I love you.” makes my speeding heart beat come to ease.
I know in life there are no guarantees, and that life can be a mess.
But I know as long as I’m with you,
I’m safe.
