Fitting Together
Two pieces of a puzzle
So alike
We matched. Same design, same edges
Together
We had to be
But they don't let us
We can't be together
Being the same isn't right
We don't fit
We aren't normal
Society says so
We’re from two different pictures
Yet we still fit
To form a picture
That is true and unique
Though we aren't really puzzles
Two people
So alive
We matched
As the same
Same gender, same species
Though they don't let us
we can be together
Being the same isn't our choice, but it's our right
We aren't perfect, and it isn't wrong
We shouldn't be forced to be with others
Society says so
We weren't made for each other
From two different perspectives
But we still fit
Even if we aren't puzzles
Just because they fit doesn't make them right
Just because we're alive doesn't make us right
Because we are us, they say we aren't right
Society tells us we aren't of the same puzzle
We might still be wrong in their eyes
But we can still fight for our rights

This poem is an idea based off of my friend and her girlfriend. They tend to face a lot of discrimination for who they are, and she once told me they were like two puzzle pieces of two separate puzzles in societies eyes.
