Lafayette
00. We start. The sun peaks his eyes up from the up from the tree tops, to see who will try to visit him today. In the beginning, the trail is wide. I can feel the footsteps of the many who came before me. The birds say good morning, and as I feel the clean air on my arms I say good morning back.
00. The sun watches me through the leaves, I can feel myself getting closer to him. The trail gets smaller and the footsteps of the people before me turn to rocks. The birds encourage me as my feet get a little harder to lift up.
00. The sun stares me down, and I hide my skin from him. The rocks turn to boulders and and the trees are only bushes. The trail is now indistinguishable from the rest of the forest. Few have been here. The birds tell me to go back, but I know what is ahead of me.
00. The sun and I are the closest we have ever been, as I join him above the clouds. He welcomes me and the wind cools me down. Not many have made it up here, not even the birds.
