There was this place,
Where the water teased the land,
It was a topaz blue
Cascading upon the grainy surface
Where the sand glides,
Warm and coarse
Finding new places to hide
Where the palm trees sway
Dancing with the wind
Casting comforting shadows
Where the seagulls called to each other
Making new friends along the way
They could roam
No borders,
No limits
They were free.

For this poem I wanted to describe a place and objects that had no race, border, or limits. For this simile I thought birds would be the best fit. In the news we see so much hate, borders being drawn tearing nations apart. For example: India and Pakistan, both countries dear to me, torn apart by a single border. This poem has a much deeper thought to it. Birds do not have designated homes, they are free to roam, they have no borders. I wanted this poem to shine a light of hope through all the hatred in this world.
