Her
1975
She’s just like me
She was young and not ready
She was scared and unwary
She was misguided
1995
She was at a halt
And she did not stop
She kept on going
She overcame and she grew
She is beautiful
She is kind
She is selfless
She persevered
She became the nurturer of four
She gave endless love and support
In her times of need she gave us what we needed
2008
We didn’t have much
We had to hop
Squatting from house to house
Packed like sardines on the only bed
Sharing warmth from one another
No TV
We entertained each other
No electricity
We couldn’t even see each other
No furniture
She couldn’t even rest
2010
She was hit with adversity yet again
By someone she thought was her forever
At a halt yet again
However
She was still beautiful
She was still kind
And she was still selfless
She never stopped being strong
She never stopped giving love
And got help from the one above
Loving of her kids
She gave us endless support
2012
She found a lover
And birthed another
We gathered together
A new endeavor
And through it all I call her my mother
2018
