Who Are You?
I get it, its rough
That her hair looks tough
and thinking that fixing it in the school bathroom
will be enough.
That his shoes don’t match his fit
And that new kid who can’t find a group to sit with.
But it’s hard to fit in, or even to make a difference
because really who else would?
When standing up, would it be the ones recording?
The ones watching?
The ones instigating?
The ones waiting for s*** to pop off and let someone get hit!?
No.. Because no-one stood.
I get it, it’s hard
Running the yards, raising your hand, filling in the bubbles.
Worrying that when you walk you’ll trip and stumble.
They’ll laugh.
Embarrassed.
They’ll talk.
Heated.
No matter how much you prove yourself,
You’ll still feel defeated.
I get it, it sucks
Walking down the hall but feeling stuck
Wanting to get from one place but left in the other
Wanting to be included but you can’t so you start to think
“I’m not like the others”.
And you’re right, you aren’t
So be yourself and don’t put up a front
Relax your shoulders, open your mind
And begin with a fresh start.
