THE SUITS

In the depths of darkness

Me, my sister, dad, and mom

Were on our way sneaking out

In broad daylight

The earth quiet, sounds of insects and birds, chirping

We tippied under the caved in bridge

Near the abandoned and misplaced tracks

An eerily feeling washing over us

The suits. We saw the suits handling their tar colored steel

Immediately forcing us to, “GET DOWN!” and “DON’T MOVE!”

I stood there doe eyed viewing what was occurring in the moment

Hearing their throaty voice rasp out command

My dad and sister knelt with steel beside their heads

Taking in a deep breath, closing my eyes as tears trickle down my cheek

Hearing a ‘click-clack’ sound my voice shutters

BOOM!’’ My eyes open in panic looking around in all familiarity.

The author's comments:

This poem is about an occuring dream that involves trying to stay alive. i chose to write about  this because dreams can signify your daily thought and actions, what you and do. it like when you go to sleep and your brain picks a movie to play out of the cabnet of your day. This poem could include my thought on police brutality, the end of the world, and the worst case scenario, death.
