The Decency of America
Life is something you don’t understand
Until it hits you hard.
Lives being saved, elections, politics, all the same
But people mask the bad news with the good.
Visions are blurred with different perspectives.
CNN, NBC, and FOX, all different,
like the four horsemen
Politics blur the mind of innocent citizens.
Politics cloud moral judgement of others.
Politics bring conflict.
Donald Trump, Hillary, Pence, all the contenders.
Our elections and debates tear us apart.
Our own country splits us apart.
Our country wouldn’t be interesting without politics, a red and blue state of arguments and parties.
But, politics are the sole reason this country
gets everything, or nothing done.
Our country, apparently we are united by nationality,
but why must picking a contender split us apart?
“United We Stand, Divided We Fall”, yet we’re already divided.
How can a country unite to anything when we can’t agree on a simple “leader.”
From family dinners to election boxes, we all agree in our disagreements.
I don’t see how future generations are going to live in a modified society.
But human or not, we all have our disagreements and differences, I must ask…
Why must my political opinion matter?
Why does my race matter?
Why do my interests and dislikes determine who I am?
I don’t understand why I can’t just be
Who I want to be?
Why can’t I just be human?

I would just like to add that I by no way wish to have an argument about politics here, I just would like to write what some people feel.
