People ask me all the time, have you ever been in love?

Have you ever had someone care for you so much, that you would die for them?

A significant other that gives you their time and effort?

No I haven’t.

What is love?

Is it a feeling or an emotion?

Is it something I’m suppose to have in my life?

Questions and questions blur my mind, like clouds cover the sky.

Sometimes I just want to cry.

I always see my parents, smiling and laughing together.

Just enjoying themselves without a care in the world.

Is that love?

I asked my mom once, What did you see in dad that made him more special than the rest?

She said Kate, he felt like home. He made my world a better place.

He was my rock.

She said Kate, you will find the one.

What does that even mean?

“I will find the one”

For what?

Im only 18.

A lost girl that just graduated from a small high school in California with no clue what’s next on my agenda.

What am I supposed to know about finding someone or knowing about love?

Noone has really approached me saying they liked me or they thought I was pretty.

Well I’ve never payed attention really.

But one day everything changed.

A boy, my age, gladly came to me and said “hi, can I get your number? Because im having a little trouble with this homework our professor is giving us. Do u wanna work together?”

His soft colored brown eyes lit up, His white teeth blinded me like a beaming sunlight hitting me forever.

I happily gave him my number.

I didn’t know that small gesture would change my world.

A couple years past,

People still ask me have I ever been in love? And what is love?

I now know what to answer…

Yes I have, its happiness.
