Hermes’ Talaria
The sensation of his muscular feet
Weighs down my gold plated back as he goes.
Like a hawk awaiting to take flight,
I stay on his ankles until the moment is right.
Zeus bestowed me upon thee to take
Messages to and fro.
I am an eagle soaring
As the wind whistles past my wings.
Although he stole Apollo’s cattle, I dare not tattle.
For we fleet by feet, for he is a patron of thieves.
Run, Hermes, run for I will quicken thee,
Even to the underworld where not all gods can be.
