Early spring, chilling breeze at my back and the green out front, finally golf season has started,

Hole one, I took a shaky swing, yet somehow I parred it.

Our team looked great, not a flaw in sight,

However when stepping on the course, there was no delight.

Hole two came around and seemed rather easy,

Weather threw off my shot a storm rolled in that was unreasonably breezy.

Just like my shaky shot our team lost our first meet,

We didn’t let this bring us down, we would learn from this defeat.

Hole three and four pass,

Just as quickly as I swing my iron through the grass.

The season was flying and yet the end seemed so far away,

All of the team was dreading that day

Hole five, six and seven were rough,

Every shot seemed wrong and I knew the finish was going to be tough.

Nearing the end of the season we were six and three,

We hit our rough patch halfway through the season, and knew persevering was the key.

Finishing hole eight and nine felt odd,

Coach looked at me and looked hopeful, giving me a nod.

The season was over looking around I had a grin,

Knowing all too well next season would begin again.
