The Splendor of the Night Sky
Rise into another dawning day
In amazing awe
Because my small dim cell
Has become aglow
The stars wink at me
The wind blows through the trees
Goosebumps raise on my arms
The break of dawn approaches
The cypress tree sways in the dark
Waiting for the kiss of the sun
The village below is a figment of my imagination
The asylum is where I belong
Swirls of light break through the sky
The moon emits an orange radiance
But the morning star, the great Venus
Sparkles the brightest on the town below
I’m trapped within the bars of hell
While outside heaven reigns
My heart yearns to go experience
The splendor of the night sky
