Daffodils
These
Flowers
That grow in
Me are crawling
Up my throat, and down
My chest, wrapping its vines
Around my lungs, squeezing tight.
Ragged breathing, I gasp for air.
White petals erupting from my throat,
Coughs wracking throughout my body, eyes clenched.
I conclude that this is not my body,
For it has become an overgrown
Garden bearing unrequited
Love. No longer a gentle bloom
In my chest, but instead
An uneasiness.
I realize now,
That I am
Not for
You.
