Background Noise
She let go, her mistake
That's what she got for tempting fate
Lately, every day is bad
Reading messages reminding her of the love they had
Always another person acting stupid
Now suddenly she hates cupid
Stuck being nice to the new boy
Hoping he's just the new toy
That there's no real connection
Missing all of her affection
The late night calls
Now there are just holes in the walls
The good morning kisses
Already used her three wishes
Wished for peace, love, and forgiveness
She threw it away due to her impulsiveness
Now she's caught in memories
It was the love of the centuries
But it's all gone now
The only question is how
Thought she was doing the right thing
She clipped her own wings

I wrote this piece after my ex-girlfriend and I separated. The title 'Background Noise' refers to the constant buzzing in my head that occurred after as a result of the continuous anxiety attacks I was having.
