I am Death.

I wonder what human I will strike next.

I hear the screaming and wailing of my victims.

I see dark walls, skeletons piling, bones cracking……

I want revenge on the ones who imprisoned me here.

I am Death.

I pretend that I am still alive as a human.

I feel the hatred against the gods and those who praise them.

I touch the skulls of my prey.

I worry that I won’t be free, but be here longer.

I cry in glee when I succeed.

I am Death.

I understand this seems strange and dark.

I say to myself, “Just a few more, and it will be over…”.

I dream of the next horror I will create.

I try to leave, but my desire for revenge prevents me from doing so.

I hope of a slower destruction of these humans.

I am Death.

This is an "I am" poem that I wrote in 7th grade as a project that had to do with the greek myth of Icarus.
