Would you rather strain your eyes starring at a screen or hurt your back carrying a heavy book? Brandon wrote an essay about why we should have ebooks over printed books. Isabel wrote an essay about why we should have printed books over ebooks.
First off Brandon’s and Isabel’s essays both talk about some of the same things. They both say that ebooks and printed can hurt you over time. Isabel says that ebooks strain your eyes. Brandon says that carrying a textbook in school is heavy and often can hurt your back. Brandon and Isabel both agree that ebooks and printed books can hurt you in some way.
Secondly, in Isabels essay she says, “ In fact we would be better off if there were no electronic books at all.” Isabel also says, “You can download hundreds of books and magazines on an ereader, the selection does not compare to the variety of printed materials available at a library or a bookstore.” Isabel also say about the feeling of the book when she says, ”I love pulling the books off the shelves and running my finger over their pages.” She also says about the smell of the book where an ereader has no smell. Isabel talks about how easy an ereader can get damaged. She says if water is spilled the ereader will be ruined where a book can dry out and you can began reading again. That is why Isabel thinks printed books are better than ebooks.
Finally, in Brandon’s essay he tells about Dr. Janet Chen and how she says ”We cut down billions of trees every year to make paper, billions! most of that paper goes into books, newspaper, and magazines.” He says, “Ebooks don’t require paper… you download them onto your ereader.” He also says, “Yous can store hundred of books, and you can replace them as often as you want without having to use paper.” Not using paper would help our forest’s majorily. Brandon says, “One time I saw a man open a suitcase at the airport. He had half a dozen books in there.” That is why Brandon thinks ebooks are better than printed books.
In conclusion, Brandon and Isabel have some things the same in their essay. The both also have their own opinion about ebooks and printed books. Isabel tells why she thinks printed books are better and Brandon tells why he thinks Ebooks are better. Now its your turn to decide. Would you rather strain your eyes staring at a screen or hurt your back carrying a heavy book? Do you like ebooks or printed books better?
