Astro-NOT
Humans should not be sent into space for exploration, but technology is a safer way to retrieve information. After the industrial revolution, people were worried that machines were taking their jobs, but in this case the safety outweighs the losses.
January 28th, 1986, billions of dollars were lost in the launch of a space shuttle when it broke apart only 73 seconds into flight and crashed to the ground. Due to the high volume of budget used for these space missions and the increasing national debt, it is easy to see that halting the man-missions would potentially improve the national debt. One could say that sending a satellite in replacement of a human could cost more if there were to be a malfunction, but the risk of sending a satellite would have more of a gain in the terms of data over a long period of time, than if you were to prevent the huge expense but have data over a short period of time as in the case of man-missions.
The replacement of human space travel is becoming more relevant because of the tragic deaths that come with certain space travel flaws. Today, most are engulfed in technology within their daily lives. Technology can be used with space travel and on day evolve into complete exploration farther than the human limits.
The opposing side may argue that technology/machines cannot do all the things humans can, but with technology the data and information can be transmitted instantly without error, where humans could make mistakes when entering data. Another thing is that some may want to fulfill their desire for adventure with space travel, but just working for NASA could fill the want for adventure. You can experience so many amazing things with technology too, without leaving the surface.
I suggest to develop technology more and more until there is a way to send something into space that can accomplish everything a human could.
Overall, I don’t want to stop space travel completely, I just want to change the way it’s done so more lives and money can be saved.
