My Best Friend

In our lives, we meet new people everyday, all of numerous kinds. Many of these people remain mysterious to us, but others even become friends. These friends come and go throughout life, and some are a delight to be with, while others may not. There are so many different types of friends that one can have. One type is just an acquaintance, and these types of friends can be approached with something as simple as a smile or a wave hello. On the other hand, when best friends come into play, it is totally different, due to the fact that best friends are almost like siblings to some.

My best friend made my youth as staggering as any child could dream. We were like two peas in a pod. Hanging out constantly, we made each other's lives as fun as could be. Being fourteen years old as of now, I glance back at all of our astonishing memories in satisfaction. Everywhere we went, people asked us whether we were brothers or not. We would reply, "we wish" in light of the fact that if on the off chance that we were siblings, our lives would be much better.

Our lives were better being best friends. Zach and I met each other when we were in “Mom and Tots” in pre-school. That is also where our mother’s had met for the very first time. It was truly both of our mother’s that permitted us to wind up being best friends, because they became friends and suggested that we as young boys should play together. We essentially grew up together from there. Going through pre-school, we had play-dates almost everyday. However, this relationship between two young boys sounds like any other kids being close friends, but ours was not; our friendship was one of a kind from the very beginning.

We had a unique friendship, different than anyone else’s. A lot of friends get into arguments and fights, but we were so close that we never fought or argued. After pre-school, we went to different elementary schools, although we still hung out all of the time. He was held back one year due to being young for his grade, so we were then in different grades, but still remained close. The activities we did together included playing video games, building forts in our basements, and our favorite, which was smacking sparkling bottles of water with golf clubs on his driveway. I can remember the times that we built forts in our basements, using pillows and blankets. The way that we played together was just not the same as when I played with anyone else. My nanny used to tell me that she loved when I played with Zach, because we did all sorts of things together and did not just sit inside and watch TV, like I did with other friends.

I tell a lot of people about Zach because he was my best friend. Again, being fourteen and in high school now, we are in separate schools again, and now not even in the same district. Having him as my best friend made my life significantly better for many reasons. For one, I could be myself around him and his family. Another reason was that we were always both there for each other when we needed it. And one thing that I loved about being friends with Zach, was that we never made each other’s lives more difficult in any sort of way.

“Friendship... is not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything” -Muhammad Ali. There are many valuable things in life that we as humans are able to experience, and one of those valuable things is friendship. As this quote by Ali says, one has not learned anything if they do not know the meaning of friendship. Referring to this, friendship is needed in life. And for me, I have experienced this outstanding ability of companionship, with my best friend Zach.
