An Obstacle I Have Overcome
“Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye”. This quote from Helen Keller is something everyone should live by. No matter how difficult something is, it’s better to deal with it than ignore it. That is how that quote relates to my life. An obstacle that I have overcame is having to transfer schools from Noble to Olney.
First of all, I was told that Noble was shutting down and annexing with East Richland officially. I knew that the school was going to close, which disappointed me and many others. It was going to be hard. I wanted to graduate at Noble as a Ladycat, and also I have been going there since i was a kid. At the end of the year I went to the Senior graduation and it was sad, but at least those students graduated there. I knew that I would miss sports, coaches, friends, and teachers.
Then the first day of school came as quick as the last day at Noble ended. I was really nervous and scared. I felt sad; It finally hit me that I wasn't at Noble anymore and that things would definitely be different. Then I met my teachers and they were nice. I also made some friends. The hallways were crowded and I wasn't used to that.
At the moment, we are in second term, I don't feel as overwhelmed as I did on the first day, but I am still getting used to things. One thing is for sure though, I have more friends and I have met a lot of different people. My teachers are great and I love being in Introduction to Agriculture and FFA. I have definitely ran into many opportunities than I would not have had at Noble and I completely understand that.
In conclusion, I am more than happy that I dealt with this problem. I knew that other people, including my friends, had to go through it too, so I was not alone. It was easier knowing that I was not going through it by myself. Now that I have been here for a while, it is not as bad as I assumed it would be.
