A Hard Break-Up
“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light” (¨Helen¨). This quote reminds me of the time when I learned a hard lesson. I learned this lesson just by sitting in my room. One very hard obstacle I had to overcome was a bad break-up when I was younger.
I was laying in my bed thinking it was the end of the world after a hard break-up. I was asking all the questions that you ask when you're upset even though you know there are no answers. One question I asked was why he left me, and I realized that maybe it’s just the way things work. I focused on this thought for days and I realized that everybody will leave me, eventually.
This lead me to be less social because I thought if I don’t get close to people then they can’t leave me. When I could not think of any other explanations to make this fact false, I eventually gave up and tried to just accept it. This is not a fun to think of. It was a very complex thought that I dwelled on for a couple months.
Eventually after months and months of having little pity parties in my room I met a new guy. Eventually I started telling him everything about me and my life. I told him about me thinking I was going to be alone forever. He told me that it wasn’t true and that new people will come into my life.
The boy taught me that I shouldn’t push people away or I really will end up dying alone. One hard lesson is a lesson I learned sitting in my room. One very hard obstacle I had to overcome was a bad break-up when I was younger.
