Forged By Circumstance
I didn’t mean to lie. It just sort of happened. I felt like a mouse cornered by a cat, but I was put there. Under the circumstances, the only safe way out of that conversation was to lie and now that lie has turned into a bundle of chaos. Okay, maybe if I had told the truth in the first place I wouldn’t even be in this situation. I wasn’t expecting the conversation to take that kind of a turn and when it did I wasn’t able to brace myself for the torrent whirlwind of make believe that would come back to nip me in the butt. Again it all goes back to the fact that I lied in the first place. Why do humans lie when they go into defense mode? How come when we lie the first time we have to come up with more and more lies that eventually all become a story of their own because of the fabrication that has been done. It’s in our DNA to go into defense mode when attacked but when we do why is it we tend to get ourselves into even deeper trouble than we expected, we had to place ourselves in this situation forged by circumstance.
