I stepped into the line for the drop tower. I looked up at it sitting there waiting for people to ride it. The man who operated it was almost done assembling it. I was one of the first people to ride it and was excited. The man gave a toothless grin and declared he was done, put down his wrench and started up the machine. He told the people that were in line ahead of me to get on. As I walked toward the ride he shut the gate right in front of me. Confused I looked up at him and he told me “sorry can’t fit no more people gonna have to wait a couple minutes.” I stepped back and nodded, he then turned around and did a final check on the straps and gates holding the people in their seats. He walked over to his chair and sat down in front of the rides controls. He pressed a button and the ride slowly shuddered and groaned upwards. A quarter of the way up, there was a moan from the ride and BANG! I jumped in surprise and looked up at the ride. I then watched half of the bottom part of the ride fall off and smash into the ground. The man running the ride looked up and scratched his head for a minute. He declared “Alright yall it looks like this here ride isn’t workin right so im gon shut it down for 15 minutes and figure out why the ride is broken.” Looking up in disbelieve I thought to myself how in the world could anyone let people go on a ride that wasn’t built properly then after it broke tell them to just wait 15 minutes. I looked around just seeing how other people were reacting to this. Astonishingly only 2 or 3 people got out of the line. Most people just shrugged and waited. I then came to the brilliant conclusion that maybe going on these dangerous rides that arrived on the back of a truck wasn’t my best idea.
