In the late summer, when the playoffs were happening, we got a call from my uncle asking if we wanted to go to Boston if they went to the World Series. Obviously, we said yes, but we could only go if Boston made it.

It was game six of the ALCS, which is the round right before the World Series, and it was Boston against Detroit. Boston was up in the series 3-2 so if they wanted to get to the world series, they could either win that game, or the next game. Boston was down 5-7 in the eighth inning and Boston was up to bat. The batter was Shane Victorino and the bases were loaded with two outs. Shane Victorino wasn't the best hitter on the team. Anyways, one pitch went by. Strike One. Another pitch went by and Whack the ball went flying. It was a grand slam! Now the score was 9-7 and Boston was up. The next batter got out, but all Boston had to do was get three outs and they were going to the World Series.

The next inning was a breeze. With Koji Uehara at the mound, they were probably going to the World Series. Batter one got a strikeout. everybody there went wild. Batter two had a pop-out. And then the final batter… One pitch went by, Strike one. Pitch two came in. Strike two. Now, all Koji Uehara had to do was throw one more pitch to go to the World Series. The pitch came, Strike three! The Boston Red Sox were going to the World Series!

My uncle and my dad didn’t work out the details yet, but I knew that we might go to Boston. We were watching every single game of the World Series because we finally found out when we were going. It was going to be game six, if Boston made it back home. Game six was scheduled to be in Boston. Game one passed and Boston won. Game two passed and St. Louis won. Now it was a three game streak at St. Louis. Game three St. Louis won. All we needed now was Boston to win at least one more game so we could go to Boston to see the World Series.

It was a Sunday and we invited my cousins over to watch the game. This was going to be an awesome game, I could just tell. We went downstairs to watch the game because every game we watch, we go downstairs. I have a theory that when I watch a game downstairs, the team that I root for does better. Anyways, it was the sixth inning and Boston was winning. I was getting excited because we only had four more innings and we would get to go to the World Series! It was the eighth inning now and Boston was winning by four. My mom told me that I had to go to bed because she knew that Boston was going to win. They had one more game in St. Louis and then they were coming back to Boston. I was thinking, it would be awesome if Boston won their next game, then we might see Boston win at home when we were there.

I was so happy! Boston won their next game, so we might get to see Boston win, while we were there. It was the day of the game and we were headed to the airport. In the airport, there was a Ping-Pong table, so my dad and I played until my cousin and uncle came. They finally showed up, so we got our bags and went to our gate. We had to wait for about forty-five minutes until we could board our plane. We had to take two planes to get to Boston. It wasn’t a straight flight through, so we had to stop at Chicago. It was a really small plane to Chicago. Anyways, we got on the flight going to Boston and got in our seats. I wasn’t very excited because I had to do homework, but I was happy because I got to miss two days of school. The flight took about two hours and thirty minutes. All I was doing was homework. I really wanted to play on my phone, but I knew if I didn’t do my homework, my mom would get really mad at me and I would fall behind in school.
The plane ride was finally over and I was so happy. I got all of my stuff, met up with my cousins, and got out of the plane as fast as I could. When we were walking through the airport, I was really happy to get to the hotel because there was a mall connected to the hotel. I was so excited to go to the game. We got to the hotel, put our bags in our room, and went back down to the lobby. We all met up and went to go shopping. We walked all the way down to Fenway Park, the Boston Red Sox stadium. It was about a thirty minute walk from the hotel to the stadium. When we were walking, my uncle was telling me how historical Boston was because he used to live in Boston. We finally got to the stadium and there were so many camera crews there setting up for the game. There were probably fifteen camera crews. It was crazy. So, we got to the store and looked around for about half an hour. We eventually left with all of us getting cool sweatshirts, and my cousin and I getting World Series hats. They have a World Series stitch on the side of the hat (The players in the game wear them). My dad and my uncle got World Series winter hats instead of baseball hats. When we were done shopping, we went back to the hotel to put all of our stuff back.
It was about three hours before the game, so we thought that we should go shopping some more, but this time at the mall right next to the hotel. We didn't stay there for long because we had reservations for dinner at an amazing lobster restaurant. We came out of the mall with some sunglass lenses for my cousin. We went back up to the room, again, got ready, then went down to go eat. I personally don’t like lobster, so I ordered really good steak there, while everybody else ordered lobster. We were all talking about how excited we were to go to the game. We were also talking about how exciting it would be if they won the World Series when we were there. My uncle told us that Boston hasn’t won a World Series at their home stadium since 1918. If they won, that would be so amazing because we would get to see history. When we were eating, ESPN was on and they were saying that the president was going to be there, so we knew that the security was going to be very high.
When we finished dinner, which it was really good, we started to walk to the stadium. There were these bike taxis, so we decided to get two of those to ride to the stadium. When we were riding, there was a building that the lights were arranged to be on and spell Go Sox. It was really cool to see that because that takes a lot of time to do that and to manage that. We stopped to take pictures and then like a minute later, started riding again. When we got to the stadium, it was packed, so we made sure nobody got lost. We got in the stadium. but didn't make it very far. There was so much traffic through the hall way, that nobody could pass anyone.(it was like traffic on a highway) It took us about ten minutes to get to our seats, which wasn't that bad considering where we sat. We got to our seats and realized that there were four open seats, so we went over there because we knew that we would be standing the whole game if we wanted to see. The seats we sat at were way better than our original seats. The stadium itself was not very big. The left field fence was about three-hundred and ten feet. Whenever there was a chant, it echoed of the left field wall which is about thirtyfive feet high.
The game was super intense. in inning six, it started to die down because Boston was up by five runs, but in the ninth inning, it got really crazy. Every out the fans went wild. But it all came down to one batter. It was the top of the ninth, two outs, nobody on. One pitch went by, strike one. The second pitch went by, Ball one. The next pitch… Strike two. This could be the final pitch, everybody had their phones out to record, even me. The next pitch went by. It was a curveball in the dirt… Strike three!! The Boston Red sox had won the World Series! Everybody went absolutely crazy. It was nuts in the stadium. It was the loudest cheering i've ever heard in my life. We stayed for the after game ceremonies, where most of the players talk about the game. That took about thirty minutes, but we weren’t in any hurry. When we got out of the stadium, it was packed. Our hotel was about a fifteen minute walk, but with all of the people, it took about forty-five minutes. When we got back to the hotel, we went right to sleep.
We woke up in the morning and went back to the mall just one more time. I got these new really cool bright orange shoes. I wore them out and now I wear them everywhere. All in all, this was an awesome trip. From just going to Boston, to watching the Red Sox win the world series.
