Our team sat silently as our last batter stepped into the box, the heat and humidity almost unbearable. Strike one went by, the second ball came in and with a “Crack!”, the ball went soaring into the outfield. The umpire yelled “OUT!” the game was over. We had been eliminated from the tournament.
