Childhood memories
Laying on my bed, an image of a my new toy bunny, sitting in the toy room, looking at me with its chocolate brown eyes appears.
“I’m lonely, come and get me” the stuff animal begs. I try to shut down my brain, but it just doesn’t want to.
“It’s too late...” I tell myself. I lay on my bed in frustration, wanting to go get my comforter, but too scared to. “Please!’ the word pops into my head again. Unable to resist, I sneak out, gently close the door and slowly walk down the stairs. “Creak!’ goes the stairs.
“Bad, bad, bad girl…” a voice whispers darkly in my ear. I pause, and then continue down the stairway step by step.. By the time I’ve reached the bottom, my face is dripping with cold sweat. I breathe softly, and move little by little down the living room. I gulp when I step on a squeaky toy. I begin crawling toward the toy room, closing my eyes, afraid that a ghost may appear. A soft ‘screech’, like nails on a chalkboard rustles by my ear. I wait…*silence* I sigh with relief as I reach out and my plump fingers grip something soft and fluffy. I squint one eye open, and freeze. Bloody red slits are blinking at me from the corner, I gasp with terror as they begin to come toward me. Instinctively I grab the toy and turn and dash up the stairs as fast as I can. I can hear footsteps right behind me,chasing me! I jump in bed and hide under the covers. I sigh with relief and glance at my beloved stuffed animal. My face pales when I see what has become of my toy. I scream realizing that I had accidently grabbed the red-eyed trolI in the dark. Feeling hysterical I throw it on the floor, and vow to myself that I would never sneak out at night ever again.
