Gaming

What is gaming?  Gaming is literally the act of playing games.  However, it does not refer to sports and very rarely does it refer to playing board games.  Gaming is mostly when people play video games.  Video games are played on a console such as a PlayStation or an Xbox, or a gaming computer.  Games are both fun and competitive, and they are equally played for both.  Some gamers take gaming lightly and just play it to have fun, but there are others that take it to the next level, are really competitive, and they are in it to win it.  There are many types of games as well like multiplayer, flash games, single player, etc.  The most played ones are multiplayer games.  This is where people interact with each other, rely on teammates, and play against people their own skill level, usually.
Most gamers use a program called Steam, made by Valve Corp.  It is where you can buy games, add friends, talk to each other, trade in-game items, and play with others.  It is most famous for its competitive games such as Dota 2, a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game, or MOBA for short.  Another competitive game is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, an official Valve game.  It is a first-person shooter game with two scenarios depending on the map, hostage rescue or bomb plant/defuse.  There is also a ranking system so you don’t get matched with players that are more skilled on the other team, making it fair.  This is personally my favorite game and I got into it since it’s really competitive, and it makes me want to get better at the game and have a higher rank.
However, everything has its limits and it should be done in moderation.  There are many people in the gaming community that take things really seriously and play for hours and hours every day.  There are others that play games moderately for only an hour or two per day and prioritize other things.  This is not the case for the serious gamers.  It’s as if their one goal in life is to become the best at every game and to play it forever.  I don’t understand how somebody can do this without thinking of getting a good education, having a good career, and a bright future.  These people not only play games as a child, but they continue to do so until they are in their twenties or even thirties, living with their parents and being financially supported by them.  If it was in my hands, I would put this constant no-lifing to an end and I’m sure it would make the world a better place.  But in conclusion, games are meant to be played for fun and entertainment, not always winning and becoming the best.
