Lack of Sleep
The clock rings and you snooze it for 5 minutes. The clock rings and you do the same, RIIIIIIIINNNNGGGGG! You open your eyes have way and get out of bed you grab your phone and walk to your kitchen to get breakfast. You look at your phone and its 9:07, well now you're wide awake! You run up the stairs as fast as you can, you trip on your little sisters toy. RIng Ring RIng! You run back down stairs trying to turn your phone off before your parents find out that you are late on the first day of school! It’s your best friend Amber calling you “ Where are you at?”She tells her “ I’m late, I have to get ready i'll see you probably 3rd hour.” You hang up.You grab the clothes you were going to wear and start getting ready.
Many High Schoolers and Middle schoolers are having lack of sleep.Last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics called on schools to start later so students could get more sleep. The group, made up of doctors who treat children and young adults, called students’ lack of sleep “a national public health crisis.” Starting school later, helps students with the lack of sleep, and kids would work harder because they wouldn't be sleepy. They would have lunch later to they wouldn't have brunch .
Sleep is food for the brain. Your brain needs sleep or it wont work! Skipping sleep is very harmful to your body. If you don't sleep you will be moody in the morning and perform poorly. It can can also make you not get along with family and friends. It can also make you do poorly for your exam. When you do not get enough sleep, you are more likely to have an accident, injury and illness. Teens should be sleeping before 11, and should be getting 8-9 hours of sleep everyday, but now and days teens have electronic devices and got to sleep at like 1-3 in the morning. Biologist want teens to have a healthy brain!
