Society: Us Agenst the World?
They say that the problems we are facing these days are caused by society, but we are society. So we cause our own problems? The way we treat each other and act towards each other is the leading cause of our problems! It seems that we don’t know how to treat each other we make it seem like our parents didn’t raise us to show respect towards each other, like we were born in a barn or something.
People these days often say this “i'll show you respect if you show me respect” or something along those lines but most of the times the people who say that don’t do it. It’s mainly seen the previous generation, and it’s sad to say I’m in that generation but I can proudly say that no matter who you are I will treat you with respect. The kids of this generation don’t show respect at all pretty much. Like in class its work time and everyone’s working but maybe one kid and the teacher nicely comes up to them and asks them “Its work time please get to work.” They say it nicely and not disrespectful at all and the student often replies “NO! I don’t have to do anything that you tell me to do!” They are totally rude about it and disrespect the teacher. When I see that happen honestly it makes me feel like a great student because when a teacher asks me to please get back to work I reply “Okay, sorry!” I treat the teacher with respect and they show me respect. The way the people in my school act changes the way I act, because when I see student act like that I think low of them and I don’t want people to think low of me.
Also, when someone older than you talks to you and you totally disrespect them it’s so rude. It doesn’t matter if they are rude to you or not they are our elder and you respect them! People are always saying how a teacher or someone older than them was rude to them or was disrespectful to the and so they were disrespectful back to them. Take a step back; do you think it’s cool that that’s how you treat people? That’s how people see you in the world and you want them to think that you’re a rude kid who has no respect for people? That’s not going to get you very far in life. When it comes to the way you act towards people around your own age it’s a little bit of a different story. I get why people say “if you respect me ill respect you” if they are around the same age as you. They aren’t your elder and you don’t have to respect them no matter what. But you should be inhumane towards them. Were all human beings and were all equal, but if someone is disrespectful towards you then I don’t think you should have to be completely respectful towards them. Personally for me I will treat everyone with respect, I don’t disrespect people that’s how I was raised and when someone is disrespectful to me I ignore them completely. If someone is disrespectful towards me I won’t give them any attention because they don’t deserve it.
I think that this happens because of the things that they show on T.V. They show all these shows where people fight and then all the murder shows that they have no and the way people act towards each other on these shows makes these kids think “Hmmm if there doing it on T.V. then it must be cool.” News flash guys it’s not cool, never has been and never will be! It’s like the question people ask all the time “If someone jumped off a bridge would you?” well in this case itd be more like “If someone jumped off a bridge cause they thought it was cool would you?” Also, there are all these violent video games that we play, Call of Duty, Halo, and many more. Even my 4 year old little brother has a wii game that is fighting. Well its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game but still he’s 4 and is learning at a young age to fight people. And with the way people interpret other things they would say yes but since it’s something stupid they wouldn’t. Guess what? Disrespecting others is stupid to! Honestly I’m just glad that I know better and I’m glad my parents raised me to know better than that. Society needs to realize that the solution to our problems is ourselves and the way we treat people and act towards one another.
So, when people talk about how messed up society is, what they don’t realize is that we are society and we cause our own problems. Since we are our own problem shouldn’t we be able to easily fix it? You would think so but this has been going on for quite some time. Since before I was born and I’m only 16 years old. There’s a very simple solution to all of this, treat people the way you want people to treat you!
