The internet is continuously growing and gaining new information every day. The internet is constantly adapting new ways of communicating throughout the entire world. Although the internet is a way of interacting with different people from different places, it could be dangerous. Internet safety and being responsible on the internet is so important because being safe and responsible on the internet can affect your future and possibly harm you.

There are so many different ways of communication on the internet like, for example, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Oovoo, etc. Although these sites are fun ways of keeping in touch with friends a meeting new people, it could also be extremely dangerous and deceiving. Many people pretend to be someone there not to harm others emotionally and physically. Internet safety such as a private setting on Facebook or not excepting people you do not know friends request are ways of preventing people from learning valuable information about you. Some people that you meet online can hack or give viruses to your computer and access all your personal and important information. This could lead to identity theft and other dangerous situations.

Internet responsibility is extremely important because whatever you put on the internet is on the internet for the rest of your life. Many people put photos, messages, and statues that can affect them in the future. For example, a girl I know had pictures of herself at a party with a red cup of alcohol in her hand and had a full scholarship to college. This photo caused her to lose her scholarship and chance of having a bright and successful future because of one photo. There is another story about this boy who was smoking illegal drugs and his friend posted a picture of it. That boy later applied for a job and one of his competitors showed this picture to the boss and ended up getting the job over the boy because the boss did not want someone who did things like that working in his company. You need to be careful what you post on the internet because it is there forever.

Cyber bullying has increased because of all the possible ways of communicating and tormenting others without actually coming in contact with them physically. Kids now have more ways to hide behind their screen and verbally abuse other kids in so many more ways. It could be done over tweets, statues, photos, etc. Instead of actually confuting people with their issues, people have learned how to do it in a more cruel way due to the fact that everyone the bully has unlimited strength with their words as appose to their physical strength.

There are many ways to be safe and responsible on the internet. Cursing, verbal violence and bullying can all be prevented if you are internet smart, safe and responsible. Block anyone who is abusive verbally. Try to prevent form taking pictures and doing things that could possible take away a scholarship or job opportunity. Also make sure you know who you are talking to. There are so many situations I have heard that are all the same. Someone pretends to be somebody their not and in the end, someone always gets hurt emotionally or physically. Stay away from unknown friend requests and stay away from unknown advertisements because they could be viruses. Be smart and make good choices because you only have one life and it is up to you to choose how you want to spend it.
