The problem that I will be talking about in this paper is Immigration. I will be talking about three things in my paper, they are what the government is doing to help immigrants, what immigrants have to do to become citizens, and immigrants that have high paying jobs I think that people from Mexico and other places should become citizens of the US if they have lived here a certain amount of time. There are some immigrants that have been here 15 or 20 years and the are still not citizens. I think that if they have lived here that long that they should become citizens.

The government has been doing stuff for immigrants, the big one that is talked about is the dream act the. DREAM Act is a bill that is trying to get past in all the states, the states that have the dream act or something like it has been passed by Texas, California, Illinois, Utah, Nebraska, Kansas,
New-Mexico, New York,Washington, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Maryland. The Dream Act is for immigrants to get into college but for a cheaper price, but you have to meet certain achievements to get the loan from the government and then later pay them off.

There are different ways that they can wait for their son or daughter to turn 21 and they can help them get their papers and become a legal citizen, they can also get in by immediate family, that is when they get in by a family member like a spouse, brother, sister, and son and daughter. If you get in by a family member it might take 9-12 months, it all depends on the office that is handling all the paperwork, another way that you could get in is for a job emergency like studying or doing research, and the other one is if you are an immigrant but if you are coming to the country it has to be for a religious reason so like the Pope, priest, brothers, and sisters. Also people who invest and then create jobs that are in the united states you can come to the united states to check on your company and your workers.

There are good thing when an immigrant turns into a citizen. The border is hard to cross because there are so many guards that are guarding the whole border. In some parts of the border have fences that are tall and electric. In other parts of the border are guarded by car, helicopter, and boat. They guard the Rio Grande, which is the deepest river in the border so they have boats in case people try to dive and then get across. Some beaches in Mexico have a fence that goes straight through the middle. There are also big cities and streets that are right on the border like Tijuana and San Diego and that it is there that border control is stronger.

I think that immigration is a problem because there are people that can not afford things because they do not have the money, because they are denied jobs that pay well because they need social security or they need something that they do not have. The other thing is that we call people immigrants when we are all immigrants and we all came from somewhere else none of our ancestors were born here only native americans are not immigrants. We all are coming to the United States for one thing we come to have a better life. I think that the government is doing the right thing when they help or pass bills that help people that can not afford to send their children to college and all children deserve to get higher in the economic mobility scale.

The thing that made me write this piece was my dad because he is always telling his story of how he crossed the border.
