My Winter Food Drive
Last year when I was a 7th grader, I had the opportunity to be home schooled. During that time, I spent a lot of time on the internet. When I was browsing one day, I came across a commercial with statistics about how many people go hungry each day. From that day on, I was inspired to make a difference in the area I live in. For 2 months, when I finished my daily work, I would go around my neighborhood and ask neighbors for canned foods to donate to my local mission for the Christmas holiday dinner. I invited friends and went to different neighborhoods because I was determined to reach my goal of feeding 150 families. A week before the Christmas dinner, I was organizing and counting the cans and I had reached 350 cans! It felt awesome to hand over the cans to the mission. I hope to find other ways to help my community.
