Fashion: My meaning of Exsistence
I love fashion. No wait, I canonize fashion. And no, I don't mean shopping at the mall with a toy sized chihuahua, skinny latte in one hand; arms decked with glossy shopping bags. Funny enough, that's the scenario mostly everyone pictures when
a fashion-crazed maniac like myself states that they love fashion. People think that all fashion fanatics are valley girls, squealing over a pair of pink designer shoes. In reality, fashion so much more than that. Fashion is art. Art that can be spotted anywhere, and owned by anyone. It's art that's worn; not displayed in museums for decades (unless of course, we 're talking about Valentino Garavani's vintage couture exhibits). Personally, I think fashion is this radiant cluster of artistic energy. It’s creative geniuses; designers, makeup artists, editors, and models alike, that come together into this giant force, in order to turn a vision into reality. I don't think one can imagine the insane workmanship that lingers behind every show, every gown, every pair of stilettos. It saddens me, when people think of clothes as just that- cloth. If one took just a bit of their time and looked at what goes on behind the scenes of a Chanel fashion show; they wouldn't regard a $3000 jacket as just an “expensive rag”. But, high end designers aren't the only ones that cozy up under the spotlight; recently, a whole new wave of young fashionistas took the fashion world by storm. Blogging broke into the scene. Ever since the mid 2000's fashion fanatics everywhere started to make their marks in the fashion world. People from all sorts of backgrounds and styles are able to share their take on fashion via the internet. And let me tell you; not all of these people are sporting Dolce and Gabbana. From vintage clad Texan teens, to the grungy Californians, fashion fans are able get their voice out, and make it heard through clothing. I think that's the part that I love the most about fashion. You don't have to be decked in Gucci from head-to-toe in order to make a statement, you just have to have your own voice; your own style, so that you'd weave it into to your wardrobe and end up expressing yourself in yet another way. To me fashion is everything. As weird as it sounds, I basically live for it, and as long as Conde Nast keeps rolling in the Vogues, I 'll be good to go.
