“Idiom Intervention” by Herbie Steinman was one of the funniest pieces I have ever read. Two aliens, the main characters in the story, are discussing idioms. One, Jorj, uses metaphors all the time, while another, Afann, takes everything in the literal sense. It is simply dialogue, but it conveys the best jokes any writer likes to hear.

I laughed the whole way through the story. Jorj, the one that loves idioms, is constantly annoyed by Afann’s literal take on them. For example, when Jorj says, “No! It means you’re getting on my nerves!” Afann replies, “I am on top of the flooring material. Relative to your peripheral nervous system, I am nowhere near your information currents, nor am I on top of them.” Overall, this story was extremely fun to read, and I, along with the rest of my friends, loved it.
