I found Millika Hedge’s poem “Pineapple” to be wonderfully written. The poem gives an insight to how ending relationships can have a different effects on people. It is interesting how you said “she thrived without you. So, you grew thorns to defend yourself against the cruel world,” because ending a serious relationship can lead one to thrive faster than the other companion. Long ago when I ended a serious relationship, I felt myself to grow thorns and I wondered when it would be my turn to thrive. I think it is good for people to know that their turn to thrive will come and it just takes a bit of time.
