Water is undoubtedly the biggest requirement of life as well as humans. It has been proven that our body is seventy percent water. Water is used in many chemical reactions in our body. As the world population has been increasing massively in the past years, water shortages are becoming the major problems that humans are facing.

Water scarcity has become a gigantic problem for our environment and ourselves. It is expected that by 2050 Pakistan will be in a severe drought if this disastrous problem is not solved. Cape Town is already facing such circumstances. Ground water in many areas of the world is becoming saline. Well, due to this, vegetation is a very time taking and as well as an expensive job. Many people are facing illnesses, such as cholera, due to lack of clean water. Prices of bottled water are now very high. Desalination, the process of converting saltwater into freshwater, is very expensive and wastes a lot of water. In some places, tap water is not suitable for washing clothes. It is proved that water scarcity and global warming are both related.

Water scarcity has many reasons one of them is pollution. When riverbeds, freshwater streams and other water sources are polluted. When water is polluted, it causes many diseases and many daily life processes are neglected. As said earlier, water shortage is caused by global warming. For example, the snow zone of Pakistan was 4500 meters. Now it has increased to 6000 meters. So less ice is produced and there is less fresh water. Another big reason of this difficulty is the wastage of water. Running taps are not closed. Unclean water is mixed with clean. Proper dams are not built so as a result, clean water enters sea without being utilized. People are not educated about water saving. They are not taught that if we save water, we will have a better life. Policies regarding water consumption are less. There are no fines on the cruel act of water wasting.

So the question is that how do we solve this problem? First of all, we should not waste water running taps should be closed. Excess water should not be used in any task. Buckets of water should be used instead of using pipes. Secondly, water sources must not be polluted dirty water should not be mixed with clean water stream. More trees should be planted and less burning should be done. This is because it increases global warming. Thirdly, dams must be constructed. They not only make electrical energy with it but also store clean water for irrigation purposes. If people are taught not to pollute the environment, people will be aware about the consequences of water shortage. More policies about water saving should be adopted. If fines are allocated for any breaking of water saving policies, people will be committed to save water.

If these ways are adopted, less water problems will exist. More food will be available. The biggest advantage is that humans will be provided with fresh water without paying a huge sum of money. Another achievement is that our future generations will benefit from there schemes. We will hopefully see a better world.
