[Lights up on a girl’s bedroom. Two girls sit upon a bed. ANNA, a tall 18 year old girl, lays with her head in LIZ’ lap. LIZ is a petite girl, 17 years old. This is her room. ANNA is complaining about her ex-boyfriend, who LIZ has a crush on, ANNA is oblivious to her friends crush.]

ANNA: Can you believe John? He’s always handing all over these girls.
[ANNA shows LIZ her phone. LIZ rolls her eyes.]
LIZ: Why are you worrying about John? You broke up six months ago, I thought you were over him. Maybe you should follow his lead and move on.
ANNA: I am over him, he can do whatever he wants. I just wish he wouldn’t rub it in my face.
[LIZ runs a hand through her hair, sighing.]
ANNA: What’s up with you? You seem upset.
[ANNA sits up. LIZ waves her off]
LIZ: It’s nothing. I just hate emotions.
ANNA: What happened?
LIZ: I like one of my friends ex’s, but I can’t do anything about it.
ANNA: Oooh who do you like? It’s not John is it?
LIZ: So what if it is?
ANNA: I can’t believe that you like him! I thought you were my friend.
[LIZ facepalms.}
LIZ: Anna, I am your friend. I’ve liked John since before you dated him!
[ANNA gets off the bed]
ANNA: Not if you can do this to me.
LIZ: Do what to you? Forget about my crush on a guy so you can be with him? Listen to you complain about him all the time? Tell him no when he asks me out because I don’t want to hurt you? Please tell me how I’m doing anything to you.
ANNA: You like him though, he’s my ex that’s not okay!
LIZ: You’re impossible!
ANNA: No I’m not!
LIZ: Just get out of my house.
ANNA: What?
[ LIZ raises her voice and enunciates every word. ]\
LIZ: I said GET OUT!
[ ANNA gasps and storms out. LIZ breaks into tears and lights go out. ]

Scene II
[ Lights up on a classroom, LIZ and ANNA are sitting next to each other, ANNA is bragging about her appearance. LIZ is staring at her text book. ]
ANNA: I look so cute today!
[ ANNA is making faces into a handheld mirror. LIZ rolls her eyes. ]
ANNA: So I thought about our conversation last night.
LIZ: Oh have you? Are you gonna tell me how I’m a terrible friend some more?
ANNA: No, I decided that you can have him…when I graduate.
[ LIZ laughs loudly ]
LIZ: So I can date him when I don’t go to school with him anymore? Did you forget that I’m graduating with you?
[ ANNA seems unfazed by what  LIZ is saying.]
ANNA: Yeah, that way I don’t have to see him with you. Plus I heard that he might still like me, so I wouldn’t want to be unfair to you.
LIZ: I’m pretty sure he doesn’t like you.
ANNA: Well I was told differently so I’m gonna talk to him about it.
LIZ: Anna he doesn’t like you.
ANNA: I’m gonna wait until I hear that from him.
LIZ: He doesn’t like you.
[ ANNA starts shouting.]
ANNA: Why can’t you just accept the fact that he still likes me and doesn’t want you?
[ LIZ, completely done with ANNA, throws caution to the wind and yells.]
LIZ: Because I’m his girlfriend!!
[The stage goes quiet for a few moments. ANNA sits slack jawed.]
ANNA: Since when?
LIZ: About a month after you broke up, give or take a few weeks.
ANNA: I can’t believe you would do that to me.
LIZ: I would’ve told you but I knew how you would react.
[ The bell rings and ANNA storms offstage.]
