When I open my eyes for the first time, I am looking into the eyes of myself. The mirror is tall and frameless, and I can see my whole body. My eyes are wide, blue and searching, while my body is short and lean. I can’t believe that this is the body I was given—it’s so perfect.
I look down at my hands and marvel at how lifelike they look. But I know that underneath the synthetic skin it’s just all metal and wires.
And as I stand there, I think my first thought ever.
I wish I were human.
