The Blind King
The King looked down upon his subjects with disdain from up high in his castle. And though he watched, he did not truly see them.
He watched the peasant farmers work the fields and sneered. Can’t you work any faster? He did not see the sweat on their brows, the ache in their backs.
The King watched the beggars on the streets and rolled his eyes. Simply too lazy to get a job! He did not see the social and economic chains that held them.
He relaxed back on his throne and could not understand why his kingdom was dying.

I wrote this for my high school creative writing class. The assignment was to write a flash fiction in 100 words. I'm pretty proud of this one!
