A Modest Proposal
For advancing the modern civilization and society in the U.S, and for propelling the U.S economy skyrocket.
One has said that the human race is not going any further if we continue the way we live, remain our lifestyle; we need revolution and innovation to stimulate things in order to advance what we thought the standardized civilization should be. In the last couple of thousands of years, we’ve developed, and many aspects of our society and lifestyle have evolved. What made all these changes? Wars, revolutions, etc… Only because of these, our human race will rapidly extend further.
Today, poverty, corruption, and the most important problem among all is pollution. These things are obstacles in our way to slow our pavement down to advance. Imagine if all the homeless and jobless people living down the street in downtown New York or San Francisco were to contribute more to the society, federal employees no longer have any privileges and those who have been spotted corrupting and anyone involved were to be wiped out from the government, and corporative power and government introduce new policies to severely punish companies that pollute and contaminate the environment and also create plans to recover the land we’ve lost. This country, the land that we live in will be a paradise.
The simplest solution to solve all these problems is through the reforming operation named “Purge” throughout the country. This operation should only happen once a year and the legislative and judicial branch in the U.S. government should provide unlimited support. The Purge allows that any individual during that day of operation from 12:01 A.M to 11:59 P.M would be granted absolute freedom to do whatever they wish they could’ve done but not having the opportunity to do over the past, the purpose of what they choose to do should specifically lean toward other individuals, not infrastructure nor other public property.
There are many advantages through this reforming program, one of them is that for those who think those do not have a job or home and beg others for their mercy to give him money should not exist in this society, because they are the cancers to the development and evolution of mankind. It reduces the amount of work the congress needs to work on in order to keep these people alive, food stamps, poverty benefits, life supports, and etc.
Another advantage is that people are stressful under whether it is working environment, family issues, or health issues; they need a day-off where they could find themselves a place to free and relax. Also, those who take the money that we’ve been struggling to scrap up easily into their pocket should not be tolerated. In addition, as I mentioned before, it will save us as tax payers and the government a lot of funding into those humanitarian programs or policies toward those jobless and homeless people.
If we continue with the way we live without any changes, the world will eventually not have enough space for everyone to live due to rapid growth in population. Facts have proven that programs and policies for jobless and homeless people are a waste of resources and time. Also, statistics found people who work in big cities are more stressful than people who work in small towns or valleys, and so the only leisure for those work in big cities is going to bar after work whereas those who live outside of cities could have many other various options to spend their time, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and so on. Lastly, we all know that there are many people trying to save our land, but on the other hand there are also people constantly destroying our land no matter how much reinforcement our government executes. All these solutions obviously wouldn’t work, if they did, it would have already happened, but yet we haven’t seen anything effective.
Last year, movie director and screenwriter James DeMonaco produced a visual guide to state his definition of the Purge and tell the audiences what he thinks would happen if we had this become real, although it was claimed as a horror movie, but we could still see some futuristic scenarios of how people would react and what the society would become.
The purpose of this proposal is solely based on my personal interest and my eager to see that the world we are living in will soon become a better and cleaner place. I personally will not be benefit from my proposal because I have a steady job and monthly income to support my basic living, and I belong to the working class.
