"Love truly."

it has its hands around my throat
the long metal fingers are clenched tightly
restricting my ability to breathe
if i move to attempt to release myself from this strangle
it only clenches tighter
tighter
tighter
until i feel as if i should conform just to release its hold
but i will not become like the others
superficial
fake
those are the tragedies
they gave in easily
but i do not wish to be like them so i have stayed still
for eight long years i have stayed still
and i will continue to stay still until i am finally able to graduate from this hell-hole
surely others are going through the same
they must be
please dont let me be the only one
dancing around like a puppet on a string
others must be going through the same thing
that's the thing: you never know
i am ticking like a watch
or
more accurately
a time bomb
it whispers in my ear
"are you ready to give in yet"
i do not know
all i know is:
society is slowly killing me.

This was inspired by the way many teenagers feel they have to conform to fit in.
