Girl interview

“MEREDITH MADISON MUELLER COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW” my mom screamed at the top of her lungs. I wake up in a daze and fly down the stairs. “What?? What did I do??” I spit out. She looks over at me and smiles. “Nothing, breakfast is ready” she says quieter this time. “Are you serious? You nearly gave me a heart attack. It felt like a baseball bat was hitting me on the chest at full force” I said out of breath. “Oops, sorry” she snickers. As my heart calms down, I start eating the delicacies that my mother laid out in front of me. After I scarf down some orange juice I get ready to leave for my interview. I run out to my car and realize I totally forgot to say goodbye to my mom. I just tell myself that I’ll text her later. I drive to the office building in downtown chicago. Today I have a huge interview for an internship over the summer that will make my application look amazing to the colleges I want to apply to. I sprint of the steps and slide into the elevator before it closes. There is another girl there. She has short brown hair and wears classes. Looks like the nerdy type but she grins at me. “Are you here for the interview?” She asks me. I step out of a trance as I was surprised she was talking to me. “Yes I am!” Before she could say anything else the elevator drops and stops but we’re not at our designated floor yet. “Um...” I mutter. The door won’t open and all the buttons lose their glow as if the entire elevator shut off. “I think we’re stuck” she panics. Oh no. I can already tell this will be a very long and stressful wait. The girl crouches down and hugs her knees. Is she serious? There’s a number on the side of the elevator to call for help. I dial the number and wait for a ring. A lady almost answers immediately, “Hi! I’m assuming you are stuck in the elevator. We are so sorry. Something happened to our computer system and all the power turned off! We should be up and running in about 10 minutes”. I sigh a thank you and sit down across from the girl. “They said it should be fine in like 10 minutes” I mention. She looks at me with tears in her eyes, “it doesn’t matter, I just missed the interview!” I roll my eyes and say “I’m sure they know”. 10 minutes pass and we are out of the elevator as promised. I’m just glad I didn’t have to endure more time with that girl.
