The Boy Behind The Glass
A girl named Nielle is intrigued by a porcelain doll that shows up at her house one night and is alive and talking to her. what she doesn't know is that a girl named Cassandra turned him into a doll for her own pleasure. When Cassandra finds out that the boy is gone and that someone had bought him she isn't happy. Will Nielle keep the boy or will she give him up to Cassandra?
Chapter 1: A Good Kind of Change She waddled down the street with one hand on her swollen stomach. She walked looking into the window of every shop on the street. She came by one particular shop, different from all the others. It had a feeling different from all the others. It had the feeling that there was magic in the air.
Every time she walked by it she felt drawn to it, like she had to go in every time she looked into the window. The shop was filled with porcelain dolls, each of them different in their own way. She saw one particular doll that she felt even more drawn to.
She felt as if the doll was staring into her soul and injecting something into her blood that made her want the doll. The doll had dirty blond hair and chocolate brown eyes. He was holding a girl in his arms.
His name was Thomas.
“New doll huh?” Nielle asked. “Yes ma’am it is. Just came in yesterday,” Said Mrs. Marilyn the store owner.
Mrs. Marilyn was an old slender woman with white hair. She was in her seventies and she was as sweet as honey.
“Only ten dollars if you want to buy it,” Mrs. Marilyn said while sweeping up the glass of a vase that had been broken just moments earlier. “What’s the story behind this one Mrs. Marilyn?” She asked. “Well Nielle, the previous owner had an extraordinary experience with him. He said that at night he would come alive and have full on conversations with him. He was looking for someone to take him so I did and now I am selling him for ten dollars,” Said Mrs. Marylyn.
She did not want to buy him for she feared that the same thing would happen to her as it did to the last owner. She walked out of the door and started on her way home. She went home and made dinner for herself she was only a freshman in college. She put on a movie and cuddled into a blanket on the couch. She was about halfway through the movie when she heard a noise upstairs. Cautiously she walked upstairs only to find the boy from the store earlier. He looked at her with live eyes pleading for help.
“Hi I’m Thomas. What’s your name? I saw you in the store earlier and I just had to meet you. I am a porcelain doll by day and a human by night,” Thomas said. “M-My name is N-Nielle” She said with a stutter. She was surprised. She couldn’t believe her eyes, there was the doll she longed so deeply for. He was standing right in front of her. She longed for him to stay in her living room keeping her company when she was feeling alone. She had only dreamed of someone like him to come into her life, and now her dreams were coming true.
“Tell me about yourself,” Thomas said. “Well My name is Nielle and I’m 16 years old. I graduated high school early because of how smart I was. My Ex-boyfriend got me pregnant about 6 months ago. I am having a baby boy and his name will be Jackson Andrew,” said Nielle.
“I used to be human but before my first owner, a girl named Cassandra, saw me and almost instantly she wanted me for herself. I was an orphan. I had never met my real parents, my mom died after giving birth to me and my dad died shortly after. So I went to the nearest orphanage. I was 10 when she saw me. She came up to me after I was done doing my daily outside chores. She came up to me and kissed me on the cheek and I just turned into a porcelain doll. Now I’m sixteen,” said Thomas.
They sat and talked for hours, both of them feeling like they had been best friends since birth. When he had to leave at 2:55 in order to be back at the shop at 3:00 AM before she realized he was gone. He left and she went to sleep wondering what awaits the next time she talks to him.
It had been 3 months since she started talking to Thomas and already they were best friends. Nielle was now 17. She had decided to purchase Thomas after all, today was his seventeenth birthday. She went to the shop after work and saw Mrs. Marylyn dusting off all of the dolls. “Hello Mrs. Marylyn I would like to buy Thomas,” said Nielle. “Ok sweetie, I knew you would come back for him,” said Mrs. Marylyn as she help her load him up into the trunk of her car.
When Nielle arrived home she took him out of her car and placed him in her room upstairs. “Alright Thomas, you can come alive,” Nielle said. “Thank God I was beginning to get worried that someone else would buy me and I would never see you again,” said Thomas. “Happy birthday Thomas,” she said as her water broke. “Thomas my water broke,” she said. They grabbed her bag and raced to the hospital.
At the hospital Thomas said to the receptionist “My best friends water just broke.” “Whats her name?” the lady asked as one of the nurses sat her down in a wheelchair. “Nielle Jacobs is her name,” He replied. They arrived in the hospital and delivered the baby without a problem. “What is his name?” doctor asked. “Jackson Andrew Jacobs,” She replied as he wrote it down.
Nielle went to sleep and later woke up to see Thomas holding her son. “Thomas,” She said as she took a picture of him, “how did you get my son.” “The nurse handed him to me when you went to sleep,” Thomas replied as he handed him to her. She smiled down at her son knowing instantly that she was going to be just fine without anyone to be by her side and love her.
She Didn’t need anyone to take care of her. She didn’t need a boy to tell her how to live her life. She didn’t need anyone to provide food or money for her and her son. She didn’t need anyone besides Thomas her best friend. She wanted nothing to do with her ex-boyfriend or better yet, any other boy that fancied her. She had absolutely no interest in having a boyfriend. She simply wasn’t ready for one after her last break-up.
After a few days they were able to go home. When they arrived at home they finished setting up his nursery. Then that’s when the creepy stuff started to happen. The girl named Cassandra, his previous owner, started to get angry at him. She searched for him every night since Nielle bought him. She showed up at the house one night and everything went downhill.
