Hi, I’m Sprinkles, nice to meet you? I think that’s what my humans say, I usually just bark to say hello, guess they do it a lot different. Anyways I want to tell you how I got to even know about that phrase, basically a story about how I met my forever people.
It all started about 1 year ago. I was chillin’ in my rad lair, or as my humans call it a cage, that I also share with 4 other puppies outside. We were playing tug-a-war with a giant rope. I was only a puppy then so it seemed giant. My friend Delilli? No. Danila? No. Oh, I remember it now. It was Delilah, she suddenly let go of the rope. I flew backwards and fell. Ouch that hurt. I got up and she was gone! Then this fleshy claw thing tried to grab me and I tried to run, but it got me. The big fleshy claw always fed me and pet me, so I don’t know why it wanted to pick me up. It took me to other big fleshy claws, that I later realized were humans.
I was outside with the humans, they were fun. Then out of nowhere this brown fuzzy thing started to follow me. So I chased it and chased it and chased it. Then I realized it was my tail...I mean you can’t blame me, I was only a puppy. After I caught my breath...WHOOSH! What was that? O-m-goodness it was a tennis ball! I love those so so so so so much! I ran after it, caught it, and started chewing on it, I was starting to love this day! As the 1 hour these humans had with me was coming to an end, I was getting tired. I crawled onto a random human lap and slept until a bunch of moving and noise woke me up.
There was a bundle of papers on top of me, little did I know they were my adoption papers.  I got up and tried to tug-a-war with them. Then I heard, “Bad girl! No Sprinkles! Let go!” I did as the humans said. I got sad after that, what did I do wrong? I just wanted to play. As the last few minutes of our playdate came to an end I got lots and lots of kisses and pets, I was really happy.      I got picked up and took back to my friends. Delilah was gone, and she never came back. I think her forever people got her. I was still waiting for mine.
The next day it was raining and I had to stay inside. I didn’t like inside very much. It was way more boring. No grass, no flowers to chew on, and no butterflies to befriend. An hour or two went by and I hadn’t eaten, slept, or went outside to go potty. I was so confused. I always got food on time and a never ending supply of water. What’s going on? Another 20 minutes went by when a human picked me up. We were walking down a hall and went into this very plain room. It smelt like pee, fur, and I couldn’t make out the last scent. Maybe human? The human that was holding me, better be ready for this. I started to struggle in its arms as I realized where we were. The doctor’s room. I was whining, barking, and trying to jump out of its arms. Help me! Nobody seemed to care. I was getting worried.
As we walked throughout the long doctor’s room I peed on the human holding me. It was an accident I swear! I got so nervous. The human handed me to some other human and we went into a room with a big table, a leash, and collar attached to it. I looked to the left of the room and saw three HUGE needles! No no no no no no! I wanted out now! Help! They’re going to kill me! HELP!!! Again nobody cared. They put the collar on me and attached the leash to the table and collar. There were three humans there. Two were getting the needles and one was holding and petting me saying, “It’s ok, you’re going to be fine. Calm down Sprinkles. It’s gonna be ok.”
She repeated it until I stopped shaking. It was like my own personal earthquake for 5 minutes.
The dreaded part was coming up, getting the shot. The first human over by the needles stood next to me with a little needle. I guess this won’t be so bad. She held my leg and she gave me the shot. That’s all I remember from that.
I woke up in my bed, ouch. What happened? I had completely blacked out. I just went to bed after that. I had a dream about those horrible doctors and the nice humans from the day before saving me. In the dream they took me home and gave me food and a nice bed and then dogs started attacking us. I woke up. Ugh, what a horrible dream. I wonder if it’s daytime yet. I walked out the small doggy door and everybody was already outside. It was breakfast time! Yes! I went to go eat my food and boy oh boy was it good. It was kind of hard to eat considering this big cone on my head. I don’t know why it tasted so different today. I looked at everybody else’s food and mine looked different to. What’s going on?
30 minutes passed as we all played outside. Humans all crowded around our pen, and I was getting a little freaked out. Then somebody picked me up and took me into the front of the room. The people from two days ago were here. Are these my forever people? O-m-goodness they are. I got so happy I jumped out of the human's arms to go and run to them and it was a bad decision. I woke up and I was being rushed in the doctor’s room and couldn’t move my left paw. Ouch, what did I do. I fell back asleep and woke up with a big hard pink thing around my left arm being carried out the door. It was night time. I felt really sick and my arm hurt a lot.
I was so tired, so I decided to go back to sleep. I woke up in a completely different place the next morning. It was comforting, yet strange. There was a BIG soft and fluffy pillow beneath me.    I looked around and was in a room I’d never seen before. Where are all my friends? I tried to stand and fell over onto the pillow. I started to whine and nobody came. It was really dark, so I’m guessing it was night and everybody was asleep. So I guess I should join the party.
The next morning I woke up with the smell of doggy food, not just any dog food but good dog food. I sat up to eat it, but that stupid cone thing was in my way. I had to eat one piece at a time. It was so annoying. Then the humans came in about 10 minutes later. I got a little scared, but then noticed them as the forever people from my old home.
“Here Sprinkles, we bought you a collar with your name on it.” said my forever humans
I was really happy. I stood up successfully for two second and fell over.
“Awww!” is all I hear from the humans as they help me up. What are they awing at? I just fell down. That’s confusing. I walk over to the food with a steady pace while wobbling and falling constantly. Everytime I did something “cute” everybody awed. It was the weirdest thing.
The day started to get more exciting. I got 5 new toys to play with a doggy door, and a kitten friend to play with. Except I don’t think the kitten liked me. Everytime I got near it and tried to play it hissed at me. I don’t know why.
I got tired quick, so I finished eating and peed on the floor next to a chair. I fell asleep and got woken up by my forever people yelling at me.
“Sprinkles that’s a bad girl! We go potty OUTSIDE! Don’t do that again!”
I got really sad after that. I thought they loved me. I started crying and everybody just stood there. Then I got pet and kissed saying that it was just a mistake because I was only a puppy.
I went back to bed confused. I woke up and realized that these people loved me and that I was there’s and they were mine. We had a great rest of the day together and I’m really happy that these are my forever people.
