"The Lucky Boy"
I was nine years old when I ran out of my house due to problems with my parents. Now I’m twelve and I’ve been helping people with their market bags to win money and buy fries with a lot of red seasoning that my parents always used to buy me when I was little.
“Do you need help with your market bags?” I asked with a smile on my face.
“ Will yes I do” she said.
“There you go there all in the car” I said.
“Thanks here’s some money by the way,” she said, “ What’s your name?”
“I’m Matt” I said, “What’s yours?”
“I’m Martha” she said. “Would you like to go to my house and eat something you look like you’re starving?”
The lady seemed nice but she barely knows me maybe I should say no.
“I’m sure” I said.
While I was in the car looking through the window, the wind sounded like woosh woosh, I could see the black birds flying in the sky like they were free and the breeze smelled like fresh flowers. After five minutes I heard a noise next to me like if someone was crying so I decided to turn around and see.
“What’s wrong why are you crying?” I asked.
“Oh it’s because you reminded me of my son that they took away from me when he was five and I’ve been looking for him but nobody has seen him or heard of him” Martha said.
“Oh,” Matt said, “What’s his name?”.
“His name is Mike Valdez” said Martha with a tear running down her face.
After a few minutes it got quiet so I just waited in the car until we arrived at Martha’s house. Once we arrived I noticed something about the house it was blue my favorite color and the trees were dancing back and forth with the wind.
“This house is so big and nice it’s like a castle” said Matt.
“Thanks, my husband bought it for Mike, before he died in a car accident, since there’s a big backyard he could play with all his toys and never get bored” said Martha.
“I could imagine him playing and having fun” Matt said.
“Let’s go inside so you could eat” said Martha.
Once we got inside I saw pictures of a kid wearing a green and yellow shirt with a Toy Story hat.
“Is that Mike?” asked Matt.
“Yeah this is him he loved Toy Story since he was a baby” Martha replied.
“Cool” said Matt.
“I’ll be in the kitchen making something to eat I’ll call you when it’s ready” said Martha.
“I could help you” Matt said.
“Yeah sure” said Martha.
After Martha and me finished cooking tacos I bit a piece of them and I could taste the cheese melting in my mouth they were so good I could eat fifty of those in one day.
“I think it’s time for me to go back’’ said Matt.
“Wait can you stay so I don’t feel alone in this house” said Martha.
“But you don’t even know me” Matt said.
“I know but I would be really happy if you let me adopt you” said Martha.
Did she just say she wants to adopt me yay I’m gonna have a mom.
“Wait are you serious?” said Matt.
“I would never be more serious when I say I want to adopt you” Martha said.
“Well then in the case I do want you to adopt me so I won’t feel alone anymore” said Matt.
“Thank you so much I promise I’ll be the best mom I could be” Martha said with a huge smile on her face.
Five months have passed and they’ve been the best with my new mom. But bad new she got diagnosed with cancer and there’s nothing the doctors could do so she only has a little bit of days left and I don’t know what I’m gonna do without her one she’s gone.
“Achu Achu” coughed Martha.
“Are you okay mom you look worse today maybe we should take you to the doctors” said Matt.
“Remember what the doctor said there’s nothing they could do anymore” replied Martha.
“I know, I know” said Matt.
“Can you help me lay down in the blue couch” said Martha.
“Yeah of course” Matt said.
After sitting my mom in the couch she fell asleep so I decided to cook something for her and me. A while later I finished cooking and tried waking my mom up so we could eat but she didn’t respond. I listen to her heart but it wasn’t beating at all and that’s when I knew she was gone. I broke out in tears knowing that she was dead and I wasn’t gonna see her ever again. After three months of my mom’s death I found out that she left all her money to me so I decided to use that money to build a hospital for people with cancer and help them have a happy life. I’ll always remember my mom like an angel that came in my life and saved me.
