Not My Guy
It’s been two weeks since I’ve heard from him. He stopped talking to me. The last message I got from him said, “I can’t talk to you anymore.” That was it. Nothing else. Not even an explanation. No goodbye. Tonight was an archery meeting and I dreaded going. Not because I didn’t like archery, I love archery, but because I would see him there tonight. I wasn’t ready to face him yet. I put it off as long as I could, but eventually I had to leave otherwise I’d be late and then the meeting wouldn’t count. I pulled into the archery range and immediately saw him. I wanted to turn around and go home, but I couldn’t. I had to face him. Hopefully he will just ignore me and stay at the other end of the range. It will make things easier if he does. I parked and got out of the car walking slowly towards the group trying to look at anything but him. He started to approach me, but the instructors began the meeting just then. I quickly got in line, making sure that I was at the opposite end from him. All throughout the meeting I studiously ignored his attempts to talk to me. By the end of the meeting I was frazzled. I practically ran to my car once the meeting ended, hoping to evade him. I managed, but barely. I had another reason for running though too. His new girlfriend. Apparently she was jealous and didn’t want him talking to me anymore. She was clinging to him anytime he wasn’t in line to shoot. She wasn’t even supposed to be there. Only the archers and their parents were allowed to be at the meeting. I checked my phone when I got back. I had seven missed calls and twelve messages all from him. I had felt it vibrating in my pocket the whole time, but I ignored it. I don’t answer my phone when driving and I really didn’t want to talk to him right then anyways. I put my phone face down on my nightstand without answering.
