The sun is shining down on everyone in the world of Los Angeles, California. I observe the splashes of sunshine on the ground, and the occasionally pattern of dark shadow made by the trees that decorate this peaceful place. I close my eyes and quietly listen to the birds chirp amongst each other, the cicadas sing, and the light breeze that is flowing through my short brunette hair. I close my eyes and I just feel the world around me, it's quite beautiful. I truly treasure moments like this, where I can just sit and relax, like I don't have anything in the world to worry about.  A sudden barking, draws my eyes to the small creature by my side, interrupting the peace that the park created.

My best friend Chica, she is a cross between a Shiba Inu and a Poodle, which can also be known as a poo-shi. I always giggle at the name. I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her in the animal rescue centre.
She is the sweetest dog I’ve ever had the pleasure to adopt. I smile down at her and stand up from the wooden bench I was resting on. “Ok, ok Chica! We’ll continue walking.” I laughed, she may be a sweetheart but she is so impatient.

Her personality is somewhat similar to that of a human teenager, which I find greatly amusing. I remember one time, we were going to drive to my sister Emily’s house for a visit, like we do every month, and I had forgotten my phone, so I had left her in the car for a minute while I went back for it. 30 seconds later, I heard this excessive honking of a nearby vehicle, it took me a second to figure out whose car it is. I had rushed outside and struggled not to laugh because Chica had mysteriously found out how to continuously beep my car horn. She stopped when she saw me, but by then I couldn't hold back my laughter. I was giggling like mad for the next 10 minutes, all the while my girl had a smug look on her face. To this day, I still do not know how she figured out how to beep the horn. I sighed happily, one of my favourite memories of us.

Chica, taking advantage of my wistful remembrance of the past, all of a sudden launched away from me and ran off across the park. I took off after her, yelling at her to stop. What could have made her do this? I didn't see anyone around, was it a stray cat or something? Eventually I ran out of breath, and I had no choice but to slow and sadly lose sight of her.

I observe my surroundings, so absorbed and concentrated, searching for any sign of where she might have gone. In that moment, I am unaware of the footsteps gradually approaching.  “Hello, Ma’am, Is this your dog?” A sudden voice had me spinning around. My world stopped. His bright chocolate brown eyes met my startled green ones. I don't know why I didn't see him before, how could anyone miss him? His beautiful but unkempt dirty blonde hair, his tall, lanky, figure. He is wearing a pair of nice dark blue jeans, with a plain white Tee, and a grey blazer draped across his arm. He is also wearing brown leather shoes. He coughed, interrupting my inspection of him. My eyes flew back to his, a faint blush staining my cheeks. His eyes twinkled with humour and he chuckled.

Where was I? Oh right, the park. My eyes flew to my baby girl sitting obediently beside him. Relief overwhelmed me, and I casually approached him. “Thank you so much, I don't know what I would have done if I had lost her,” I said, gratitude clear in my tone. “It’s alright Ma’am, she ran right up to me.” He said, with a thick Texan accent, his mesmerizing smile bright on his face.

“Allow me to introduce myself Ma’am, My name is Felix Lockwhite,” Felix said while he shakes my hand, then delicately kissing my hand politely, making me blush again, a bright shade of pink. His handshake is warm and firm. I shiver slightly because it was like sparks, or electricity or something went through me when he touched me. His eyes shimmering with some knowledge, like he knew something I didn't about what just happened between us.
“M m my name is Julie Mcloughlin.” I stutter, a tiny bit intimidated by his close presence.
He chuckles again and says in his Texan accent “Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Julie,”
“It was nice meeting you as well, Mr Lockwhite.” I said, while I look at Chica beside me, a content grin present on her face.

“Miss Julie...” He started to say before I interrupt him
“Julie, you can call me Julie, Mr Lockwhite.” I smile shyly at him
He laughed quietly “Well Julie, you can call me Felix then, deal?”
“Deal.” I say softly.
