Senior Year
It was the beginning of her senior year and a girl named Lauren was ready. She had just bought her new notebooks and folders and was ready for the first day of senior year. She wondered what it was going to be like. “Will my friends change “Where will I go to school next year?” All of these questions were rolling through Lauren’s head. She never thought that she would have to think and figure out these questions so soon. Lauren knew she had to figure out all of these worries by the end of senior year.
A few months had passed, the tennis season was over and their team finished 4th in state. That was the best the team had ever done in Eagan history. She wondered what she was going to do next since the season was over. The word “job” came to her mind. A few weeks had passed, and her job was going smoothly. Lauren was getting huge paychecks which she was happy about since she would be attending Normandale Community College in the coming fall. The day finally came for Lauren to register for her fall semester classes. She wasn't too scared at first, she thought she had everything down. In the end all hell broke lose. codes, passwords, Lauren’s head was spinning out of control.
“How would I remember this code?”
“How will I know where my classes are?”
“Will I be successful?”
“Will I fail?”
All of theses questions were running through Lauren’s head. Lauren decided to just walk out of the conference room where the orientation for Normandale was being held and ran in a corner and just fell down crying. She didn't know what to do. Finally, Lauren decided to call her mom and dad. She was in a panic mode. She had no idea what she was doing, where she was going or where to ask for help. Three hours later, Lauren got her schedule fixed and was relieved when she got home. The final busy month of May was hopping. There were so many things to do, so many things to get done. Lauren and her grade were afraid they wouldn't remember when every event was, such as senior lunch week, senior awards ceremony, and finally the big graduation day. Everyone's head was spinning out of control, especially Lauren’s. Finally, Lauren's mom and dad sat her down and had a long, rational conversation with Lauren on how she was feeling about graduating. ”To be honest mom and dad, I feel terrified,” Lauren responded. “Everything is going to be ok, you are going to do great things in this world”, her mom replied. Her parents assured her that Lauren was going to be very successful in life. She would starting her favorite summer job soon as a lifeguard for the City of Richfield. She would also be starting at a wonderful new school in the fall where she was going to be making a lot of new friends and joining a bunch of new activities. This helped Lauren with her confidence with moving on from high school and getting to start her life in meeting new people and enjoying life. She decided to have a good attitude about graduating and Lauren believed everything was going to be ok.
